Day 1

Hello.

For many years people have said that I am big but not fat. Well today I have to tell you different:

I AM OVERWEIGHT

Over the last few days I have decided that I need to change things and lose some weight. How much? Not sure really. I’m going to give it a go and see what will happen.

So where to start;

Firstly I’ll be updating this every morning. Normally about this time so I can give you an update on where I have got to. Why on this blog site? Well I feel that if I am laying things bare then it will be more of an incentive to continue with it.

Let’s start with looking at a normal weeks intake of food and drink:

35 Pints of cider

16 cans of Strong Lager

4 bottles of Red Wine

6 Double Vodkas with Diet Coke

25 cups of herbal tea

2 Large take away Pizza’s

1 Steak Sandwich

1 Chinese Take away

1 Burger

3 Mcmufins + Hash Brown

1 Full roast Dinner

500g pasta

6 Sausages

2 portions of Oven Chips

GOOD GOD!

When you see it laid out there it really does make you think. The drinks alone work out to around 12,245 Calories. To give you an idea of how much that is in a REGULAR Mcmuffin Sausage and Egg (not a double but a single Sausage and Egg McMuffin) there are 342 Calories. This means that in drinking all of that I basically could have eaten 36 Mcmuffins.

I know.

Another way is that a male should only have roughly 28 units a week. In that list from last week I had….ready for this? 141 Units; that is over 5 times as much as I should have.

The food is a major problem as well. Although the key is to cut down the takeaways.

So then. Are you with me! Whoop! Let’s go.

The new daily plan is this:

Daily breakfast

1 mile walks every morning

Pasta lunch

Healthy tea in the evening before 6pm

And most of all – NO CIDER OR LAGER

I’m allowing myself Vodka Sodas on Thursdays and Fridays and maybe a glass of wine in the evening.

Although this is not cutting out totally what I drink it is a massive reduction and I have been advised that going from drinking heavily to not drinking at all can cause a lot of damage. So I am more weaning myself off.

I don’t drink at weekends because of work commitments although I may be seen with the odd pint on Sunday morning at 4am after finishing another fantastic night of rocking music!

So today it starts.

I have been out and brought a little blue book and I’m going to keep a log of what I eat and drink. Weigh ins will take place every Monday and Friday. I will of course publish the results here.

So being Monday here is my first weigh in.

My Weight is 21st and 4lb

My Height is 5’11.1

My BMI (Body mass index) should be between 18.5 and 25. Mine is 41.3

So on that note according to this machine I need to lose 9 stone to be my ideal weight – One step at a time I think.
